History
Nowak & Fraus Engineers (NFE) has been providing consulting services since 1969. Our firm was the result of an engineering and surveying business formed earlier by Harold Nowak and Jim Fraus under the name of Urban Engineering Services. In 1983, the firm acquired the resources and records of the former Hoyem-Basso Associates, Inc. Civil Engineering and Land Surveying Department, in addition to its predecessor firms of McAlpine Engineering, Inc. and Arthur W. Gillespie Associates, two of the oldest firms in the Detroit area.
Through the years, NFE has evolved into one of the premier engineering consulting firms in the region. Our expertise has successfully assisted our clients with projects related to infrastructure rehabilitation and development, land development, environmental sciences, wetland & water resources, and specialty surveying. The team of professionals employed by NFE, led by its civil engineers, land surveyors, wetland scientists, woodland specialists and landscape architects are assisted by highly qualified technical and clerical personnel, constitutes the company’s principal asset. This strong, cohesive workforce assures clients satisfaction at the level expected by our clients.
NFE has performed work in nearly every community in southeast Michigan and serves in the capacity of consulting engineer for over ten (10) different municipalities. Notable developments throughout the region include the “Troy Golden Corridor” in Troy, and the “Centerpoint Business Campus” in Pontiac. Recently, NFE celebrated our 40th Anniversary of providing quality consulting services to our loyal clientele.
