Nowak & Fraus Engineers has been in the practice of civil engineering and land surveying since 1969. Our firm was the result of an engineering and surveying business formed earlier by Harold Nowak and Jim Fraus under the name of Urban Engineering Services. In 1983, the firm acquired the resources and records of the former Hoyem-Basso Associates, Inc., Civil Engineering and Land Surveying Department, in addition to its predecessor firms of McAlpine Engineering, Inc., and Arthur W. Gillespie Associates, two of the oldest firms in the Detroit area.
Throughout the years, Nowak & Fraus has provided services covering a broad spectrum of the two professions, which have encompassed single and multiple family housing, planned unit developments, as well as commercial, industrial, educational and recreational projects. The firm’s expertise has also successfully assisted its municipal clients with numerous projects related to infrastructure development, improvement and replacement. The team of professionals employed by Nowak & Fraus, led by its civil engineers and land surveyors, assisted by highly qualified technical and clerical personnel, constitutes the company’s principal asset. This strong, cohesive workforce assures client satisfaction at the level expected by our clients.
Nowak & Fraus has performed work in nearly every community in Southeast Michigan. Notable developments throughout the region include the “Troy Golden Corridor” in Troy, and the "Centerpoint Business Campus" in Pontiac. Nowak & Fraus has been rewarded with substantial repeat business on these projects and many others from our loyal clientele.
